The Most Reverend David J. Malloy serves as the ninth Bishop of the Diocese of Rockford. Passionate about guiding the faithful and proclaiming the joy of the Gospel, he comes to us to speak on the Jubilee Year of Hope. The evening of the Parish Mission promises to be one of prayer, formation, and fellowship. We warmly invite you to participate in this Lenten opportunity!

Day of Service with Franciscans in Chicago
College students, spend a day with Newman serving the poor with the Franciscans of the Eucharist of Chicago. What a great opportunity to practice almsgiving this Lent!
6:00am: Mass at Newman
6:45am: Carpool together to Chicago
8:00am: Begin serving
12:00pm: Lunch & Return

PowerPoint Party
It’s finally time for one of Newman’s most highly anticipated events of the year: The PowerPoint Party! College students, join us for an evening of fun, laughter, learning at this years PowerPoint party.
Do you have a topic your passionate about? Do want to share your strong opinions on the best form of potato? If you would like to give a 5 minute presentation, send your completed PowerPoints to studentministry@newmanniu.org.
You do not have to present to attend this event. Bring your friends!

Be Reconciled: Confession All Day
Come and be reconciled to the Lord. Receive the super abundant mercy of God available to us in the sacrament of reconciliation. Confessions will be heard from 9:00am until 9:00pm in the confessional. Let us repent and rejoice well!

Cooking for Hope Haven
College students, volunteer to help prepare and deliver a meal for those at the local homeless shelter, Hope Haven! We will begin cooking at 4:30pm downstairs in the basement kitchen of the Newman Center.

Spring Break Service Trip
All college students are invited to come serve the community of Murfreesboro, Tennessee with the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate for a fulfilling trip packed with Catholic community, service, prayer, and adventure! The cost is $150 which includes transportation, housing, and most meals during the week.

Stations of the Cross Return
Stations of the Cross will be prayed in the Church beginning at 11:15am, Fridays during Lent, March 7th - April 12th.

Ash Wednesday Meatless Meal
On Ash Wednesday, March 5th come downstairs to the Knox Room for a meatless meal of homemade soup and bread that will be served following the 12:05pm and 5:00pm Masses. This makes for a nourishing meal on a day of fasting and abstinence. Everyone is welcome to join us!
Just like in years past, we are asking parish members to donate ingredients for the meal. Please see the bulletin board in the narthex for details about what is needed to complete this meal. Thank you for your generosity!

Mardi Gras Multicultural Dinner
Parishioners, families and students are invited to sample food from around the world at our annual Mardi Gras Multicultural Dinner on Tuesday, March 4th at 6:00pm downstairs in the Knox Room.
If you or your family/team are interested in cooking a particular country’s cuisine, please sign up in the narthex. We hope to have a great variety of dishes to try from many cultures!

5th Annual Ping Pong Tournament
Join us on February 7th for our annual ping pong tournament in the Ahles Room! Can you dethrone the reigning champs or will The Padres take their third crown??
Tournament is 2v2 double elimination style. College students, you can sign up with or without a partner here. If you have a partner already, only one person needs to fill out the from. See you there.

Game Night
College Students, joins us in the Hoffman Room for our first game night of the semester! Bring your friends. Bring your favorite game. Bring yourself!

The Chili Cookoff
Join us for our annual parish chili cookoff! Sign up to enter your best chili or cornbread into the competition or just come to taste the good food! All are welcome. There will be plenty of food.

Christ the King Eucharistic Procession
Join us for a joyous Eucharistic Procession in honor of the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. We will begin in the church and process around the block singing hymns and adoring Jesus in the Eucharist. Lunch and fellowship to follow in the Knox Room.

All are invited to come for a fun and festive celebration of this great solemnity of the Church. Join us for a meal, fellowship, and more following the 6:00pm All Saints Day Mass.

Halloween Bowling
College students, meet us at Newman for some pizza dinner and then bowling. Optionally, wear your best fun Halloween costume and bring your friends. More details to come. Exact time subject to change!


Pumpkin Carving
Grades 6th - 12th, come carve pumpkins and hang out. Please RSVP to Veronica Jeronimo, youthminister@newmanniu.org, if you plan to come so that I can have enough pumpkins. Printed papers with ideas and pumpkins will be provided, but bring your own carving tools if you have them!

Northern Illinois Koinonia 56 - College Retreat
The fall Northern Illinois Koinonia (NIK) retreat is fast approaching! Join us for this weekend retreat held at Bishop Lane Retreat Center in Rockford, IL.
